About a 30-minute drive from Chautauqua County Jellystone Park™ on the shores of Chautauqua Lake, Chautauqua Institution is a nonprofit education center and summer resort for adults and children. Performing Arts & Entertainment

Chautauqua Institution is known for its performing arts events. From concerts and opera to plays and musicals, the Institution offer something for everyone. The grounds feature an open-air amphitheater, a theater company, and has the oldest continuously producing summer opera company in the U.S. Chautauqua Institution also features visiting dance companies from around the country performing ballet to modern dance.

Lecture Series

As a testament to their mission of fostering lifelong learning, the Lecture Series at Chautauqua Institution offers an opportunity for ideas and opinions to be exchanged on current and past events. From lectures on hot topics such as climate change, ethics, and democracy, to discussions on the history of Chautauqua Institution itself, you’re likely to find something of interest. Audiences get a chance to get in on the conversation during an answer and question period after the discussion.

Chautauqua Institution offers free admission to the grounds and a free afternoon show in the Amphitheater every Sunday during their season!
