Beaches

Chautauqua Lake is home to numerous beaches including some public beaches. Lakewood Beach is located at the south end of the Chautauqua Lake to which Chautauqua County Jellystone Park is closest. Lakewood Beach is in Richard O. Hartley Park in Lakewood NY. In addition to a swimming area, the park also features picnic space, a playground, and other recreation.

There are a number of other beaches further north on Chautauqua Lake. Long Point State Park in Bemus Point, NY offers a sandy beach area. The park also features boat launch and marina as well as hiking trails. Lighthouse Point Beach located in Mayville NY is also an option for a public beach and park on Chautauqua Lake.

Water Sports

If looking for something a little more active than a beach day, Chautauqua Lake also offers the opportunity for various water sports. Daily jet ski, power boat, and pontoon boat rental is available at a number of marinas in the area including Holiday Harbor MarinaChautauqua Marina, and Ashville Bay Marina. Kayaks, canoes and SUP equipment is also available at a number of locations.

Fishing is another sporting option on Chautauqua Lake. There are several fishing charters offering their fishing expertise to families or groups looking for a fishing excursion.

Other Attractions

There are a number of other attractions on Chautauqua Lake, most notably Chautauqua Institution. A historic education center and resort, Chautauqua Institution offers a number of special events and children’s programs.

Midway State Park located in Maple Springs, NY and is one of the oldest amusement parks in the country. Offering several child-friendly rides, games and food, there is fun for the entire family.

Lucille Ball Memorial Park is a park located in Celoron NY features a public boat launch, picnic areas, ball field, and a playground.
